Life is slowly getting back to normal. We got power back in the middle of the night Sunday (that's a little over 4 full days without power, if you're keeping score).
UAH is not having a graduation ceremony and they have made finals optional for students. If we choose to walk, we can walk in August with those graduating in the summer. We haven't really decided yet. We'll still "graduate" this semester and get our all-important pieces of paper in a few weeks.
My workplace was open today, running on generators. They decided air conditioning was non-essential and it was really hot in my office. Other than that, it seemed like any other day. Most area businesses are either closed or running on generators. The majority are closed. Thankfully, people have stopped freaking out about gas and the lines aren't really long anymore. I would say about half the traffic lights are functional.
As we drove west towards Tennessee this past weekend, it was scary how close the devastating damage was to our house. It makes me realize how lucky we were that we had practically no damage. It is just a lot to take in. When we got to Tennessee on Friday, we wanted to see some coverage since all we'd had was radio to listen to, but all anyone was covering was William & Kate's wedding and the aborted shuttle launch.
What an exciting post, right? At least we have power and I got to watch all my shows on Hulu! Michael Scott's last episode on the office was so bittersweet! I also ran a half-hearted half marathon in Nashville on Saturday. My heart just wasn't in it.
